Oh sweet justice

Shalonda McGill and Pastor Rodney McGill have been arrested for running a real estate scam. I normally post on Pastor McGill because he's been arrested twice this year for beating his daughter. This time around the McGill's alleged crimes are based on self enrichment.

Shalonda McGill and her husband Rodney, a pastor and popular radio show host, face numerous charges, including racketeering, grand theft and obtaining a mortgage by false representation.

“It appears that these individuals used their positions in the community to take advantage of people who trusted them,” said Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, who oversees the Department of Financial Services, which investigated the case.

“The evidence our investigation uncovered indicates these two improved their own bottom line while financially devastating the Floridians they promised to help.”

People have been sending me emails since my last post on the McGills. They asked that I help get their money back, or help bring the issue to the attention of the authorities. I did little. Based on the McGill's previous arrests, I was sure that they were already under investigation.

These people run a church. They claim to be Christians. I am sure there are people out there in fundie land who will take their side. It is all so insane. But that is the nature of religion in America, right?
