Some might find that statement very troubling

A fundie quote from Mike Huckabee on Monday in Michigan:

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.

Source: The Raw Story | Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards

Note to Willie Geist, the reporter who was interviewing Huckabee at the time of this statement The correct response to this un-American dominionist turd of an idea is "Are you out of your fucking mind?"

SOME might find the murder of the most innocent very troubling. Some might find the degraded morality that defines the United States these days very troubling. Some might find the sharp division among the populace very teoubling. Some might find the unchecked vitriol from those who have no respect for anything good or decent very troubling.

The fact is...God's standards are the only standards worth attempting to follow.

Man's standards suck.

@Al-ozarka

Are you fucking serious? That statement has to be sarcastic. Otherwise you are one of the dumbest fucks I have ever seen on here.

How about this food for thought. "god" was invented by man. Therefore your "god" sucks. Too simple?

Ok well how about all of the idiotic morality that "god" has? Of course you didn't mention which "god" you believed in. I mean, it is only a belief. A little reading and I see in your profile you list bible as your favorite reading material as well as The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. How can you put those two together? OH wait! I get it. They are BOTH fiction and fantasy stories that people tend to believe are true.. "god" and King Arthur/Merlin... very good choices. Now if only we lived by the word of King Arthur.. how interesting a world that would be.

Do you REALLY want me to point out ALL of the disgusting and "moral" things you bible teaches? You can simply google them or even ask my fellow atheists here what some of them are. We probably know more about that stupid fucking book that you and your hillbilly friends do.

I love the south don't get me wrong, but idiots like you are what give it a bad name. Live a good life and accept that we are on this world for one thing.. to live and not to serve. So shut the fuck up about your puny little "god" and let us be in peace.

I'm going to defer on "al-ozarka" until I read a response to johnny crow's comments. All I'll say for now is that, when you read some of the more outrageous and cruel things in the bible, it is humanity's standards that tell you those things are wrong.

As for the follow up question for Geist, the answer is "Yes!"

Re al-ozarka - "Degrading (US) morality?

How about the litany of crimes committed in the name of the Christian God? How about the pastors and so-called men-of-God showcased on this blog every day who make Larry Flynt look cool. Why? Because they are hypocrites who hide behind religion in order act out their perverted inclinations under the cloak of authority. Fortunately we have a man who has the guts to out them one-by-one ... pictures included.

Lifeguard's remark about the true nature of the "God" of the bible is right on the mark. This genocidal sky father was all about petty vengeance and low level retribution. It wasn't enough to command his people to murder man, woman and child - the livestock had to go too. This is a God that only an idiot would endorse.

Lifeguard was waiting for a response to J. Crow ... seconded!

How could such a small comment have so many straw men and logical fallicies? Each and every sentence is wrong on so many levels.
If I tried to write a comment that made me appear to be a small-minded dolt of limited reasoning ability I don't think I could have done better. Like Johnny, my first reading of al-ozarka made me think I was reading parody or irony, but, no, that's the real deal, right there.

Johnny, lifeguard, aidan, stew - al-ozarka is a true believer. Like Huckabee, his illogical position scares me to the very core.

Huckabee seems to want fundamentalism. It could never happen, even if Huckabilly really wanted to do it. I don't think he does, he just wants the votes from those who do. He's not stupid enough to want it or to try to do it as POTUS, he's just stupid enough to say it.

Huckleberry is too conservative on religion and too liberal on criminals and the economy and immigration.

Huckabye? Huckabee wants to have adulterers, homosexuals and rape victims stoned to death. He also wants to make alcohol and music videos illegal, and make women 2nd class citizens and to take all girls out of school.

Oops, my bad, that's another 'religion'.

Hey, anybody but the PIAPS!

if you’re MAD
punish your country
VOTE for Hillary

Huckabee couldn't change the consitution if he wanted to. Congress first has to come up with something, and then two-thirds of the states have to pass it. We don't have enough states that are of his mindset, so why worry?

Why are so many people worried about this guy? All a President can do is sign or veto a law and execute existing laws. Yes, while we had mo-fos like Jackson who did his own thing (think the Cherokees and the Trail of Tears), today he couldn't do such a thing even if he wanted to...too many Democrats and moderate Republicans to do such a thing.

Jersey,

It's not that we fear he could do it. Of course, he can't do that as president anymore than he could single-handedly outlaw the teaching of evolution. But the fact that he wants to, that there are at least a significant number of people who want him to, freaks some of us out.

We don't want to see these kinds of ideas gain momentum. We want to see them marginalized, but it looks like they are still frighteningly close to being mainstream in some parts of the country.
